GTA V seems like as good a time to get into it as any. Wink

Awesome! We are going to ruin people. I probably put more time into GTA 4 online than I have ever put in any other game in my life. And this is going to be GTA 4 on steroids. GL, if they ever add Las Venturas, which casino should we take over?

I know some others who might want in, too. Pretty good guys. I'll see if any are interested, or if they're gonna do their own thing.

We'd have to wait and see what casinos they decide to put in first, since it's unlikely they'd just remake GTA3 era LV's casinos. Wink

Story-wise, you basically start out as a petty street criminal and work your way to the top. But the most fun thing about it, at least to me, is that you aren't constrained by the flow of the story, you can pretty much just do whatever you want until you decide to continue on. Wanna pick up a friend and go see a comedy show? You can. Wanna take a girl out on a date? You can do that, too. Wanna go on a violent rampage because you're pissed off? Well, lock and load. GTA IV had two different endings and when I got to the final story mission, I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do, so I basically just messed around doing minigames and such for a week until I'd decided.

That's GTA in a nutshell, I guess. Hopefully that's the answer you were looking for.

GTA Online looks incredible.
I'm seriously confused as to how it will work though.
I'm thinking there's one open free-world with mission highlights like on single player.
Then there are apartments and shit. No idea how this will work, but I trust Rockstar. Who doesn't?

In respect to that link posted earlier that didn't actually show any achievements or trophies, here's one that does. There are some spoilers, though, so beware.

I'm a bit intrigued at a few of them such as

Yeah... GTA IV was a reboot. I thought this would be common knowledge to anyone with an Internet connection. Suspect

I could have worded that better. I know it will work. The general idea is incredible. I'm curious as to how players will interact in this MMO-like world. Like how will apartments work? Can anyone enter your apartment? Do you have to invite people, etc. Are there multiple free roam servers or just one? That's what I meant.

I'm sure there will be multiple servers since only 16 people can be in one at a time. I'm hoping there will not be private servers where badmins can kick you whenever they feel like it.

That would ruin the whole experience. Getting kicked from servers doesn't sound like the right option. They mentioned that there will be penalties for being a dick and blowing up other player's cars constantly, but to what extent, we don't know yet.

What would be the fun if you don't have the chance ruin someone's day and make them rage quit?

I think I honestly contemplated this... what's the point of getting all the money, all the guns, and all the vehicles if you can't mess with others with them?

How so? Can I get a quote on that? And even if they were, there could still be new era counterparts of those old characters.

Just look at Liberty City in GTA IV and compare it to Liberty City in GTA III and LCS. Dukes and Broker instead of Portland, Algonquin instead of Staunton Island, Alderney instead of Shoreside Vale. Francis International Airport is on the complete opposite side of the map. Where are the GTA III criminal organizations like the Diablos, Yakuza, and Colombians?

GTA IV onwards is a different continuity from the PS2 games.

And here, right from Rockstar.

http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/741/updated-asked-answered-re-vice-city-red-dead-redemption-and-chin.html

Quote :
This was a little joke for fans of the series. The Grand Theft Auto III timeline is not necessarily over - but it is a different world to Grand Theft Auto IV - only the branding and certain radio personalities exist across both worlds. The reason for this was that we felt Grand Theft Auto IV was a high-definition experience and required different kinds of characters. That - and the fact that most people from the previous world are dead.

It may be a different continuity, but I think there are GTA IV versions of the protagonists. But they're not the same in terms of name and appearance. It's like a more complicated version of the multi-verse.
