A new Tomb Raider on the way? Sure does seem like it! Basing it's self on the new 2013 release, we're safe to expect Angelina Jolie won't be playing Lara!

I'm sorry, but "Katniss Everdeen" and "badass" should not be in the same sentence unless the words "is not" is between them.

I know that Tomb Raider had some inspiration from Hunger Games, but the article took it too far. If anything, the only inspiration is the Bow and Arrow. For the record, I didn't read any Hunger Games novels and I thought the movie was a toilet bowl of spunk.

Well, Katniss did win a tournament. Most of us probably would not have.

Same here, pretty much. Though I hardly think the bow and arrow was drawn specifically from Tomb Raider, mankind has been making and using them for 5,000+ years.

The movie was horrible. I wanted to eat my own face when I sat through some of the things that happened. Forest fires don't put themselves out, they keep spreading. Some of the things they did in the movie to make Katniss look cool or badass just didn't do anything for me. I love Jennifer Lawrence, but her role was poorly played in that movie. That one trailer that keeps playing at the movie theatres where someone points a gun at her and she says: "Go on. Shoot." Dead.

Could we do what she did? Probably not since I suck with a bow and arrow, but I just think what they did in that movie to make her seem harsh and rugged just didn't work with me. She should have died so many times, but she just survived because she's the main character. Making a flower grave, crying for hours, standing around in the open, waiting for people who are about to kill her with monologue.

@Ghost: True, but it seems like more and more people are getting into bows and arrows, nearly every video game, movie, television show has to have a crossbow here or bow and arrow there. To name a few: Gears of War Judgement, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Avengers had Hawk Eye, the new CW show Arrow based on DC's Emerald Archer. My brother calls it "The Age of the Arrow."

That wasn't a forest fire. It was man-made and controlled. Apparently, this society is far enough into the future that they have molecular organizers. In all honesty, no being in that society should be without because they literally have infinite resources.

Two of the four you listed had bows and arrows long before, though.

Point being, it's becoming more common, they seem to be taking advantage of it. Anyway, I just want to see a Tomb Raider film that I may actually enjoy.

I was okay with the previous TR movies so I'll propably enjoy a new one if they make it.

However, I would prefer to have a new game, which I thought this thread was going to be about. Sadly, it wasn't.

I really am looking forward to a new Tomb Raider game myself, since I loved the reboot, but the fac that they're rebooting the film franchise as well is good news for me. I never liked Tomb Raider until this game. I may have a chance to enjoy a Tomb Raider film for once.

About that... It's highly unlikely that the same team would be doing the next game if there ever is any. That's why I was surprised to see this thread in the first place.

Why's that? Did Crystal Dynamics come out with some statement? Last I checked, ever since they got Tomb Raider's license, they've pumped out several Tomb Raiders since. Plus the 2013 reboot was successful with over a million units pushed. If they plan on making a movie in the wake of the reboot, I really doubt they're going to play a hand in the next Tomb Raider.

Oh sorry, I meant the same publisher. Then again, the latest game did underperform in sales and the team lost a lot of money so who knows. This is not because it would've sold badly, it was just a ridiculously expensive production and would've required more sales to be successful. At least it most likely won't be Square that publishes the next game.

Alright, some actual news about the sequel, comic book writer Gail Simone (Batgirl, Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman) is working on a Tomb Raider mini series that will lead directly into the sequel. The comic takes place 6 months after the end of the reboot.

So wait... The movie is a sequel to the game or there is an actual sequel to the game?

Okay, maybe I wasn't clear at all.

Gail Simone is writing a comic that will lead into the next Tomb Raider game.

Seriously? So they're pretty much confirming a sequel, huh. Nice find, totally excited for both the comic and the game. Will the comic be released in paper format or will it be digital or a webcomic?

They were talking about a sequel last year but since their expectations for the reboot was unrealistic it seemed like a sequel was out of the question. But this is a great confurmation. I am interested in seeing it in the next gen graphics.

Chances are, the way most comics are going about it'll be released in both formats.

More news, it's already "Well into development" onto the next generation sequel.

So with new comics, movies, and games coming out, it looks like Lara really is back.

Do you have any info whether it will be released on current gen consoles or will it be next gen exclusive?
