PostSubject: A mistake in Extinction   Thu Apr 12, 2012 11:06 am

I'm not sure if this was posted in a previous thread, but feel free to delete this if it's been brought up.

At the beginning of the movie when the Alice Clone was making her way through the obstacle course (whatever it's called), she makes it to the laser room. When the grid appears on the lasers, she jumps up into the ventilation, but it shows the laser as a single line instead of the grid it was in the previous shot. Is this a mistake or does the laser simply just change in less than a second.

Remember in the first film, the laser changed designs sometimes to adapt. That may have been what happened here.

I actually think it's the best of the series.

My bet is on a mistake. They don't seem to pay much attention to detail anyway.

This is so true. Afterlife was even worse though.

Very poor editing. Lack of attention to detail like Mass said. Like in the first one, where a laser that is straight parallel to the ground somehow cuts that dudes head in half diagonally...

It's called a continuity error. They're frequent in movies as a whole.

Indeed. I don't want to act like I'm defending this particular franchise, but it would be soooooo hard to keep out all of these types of mistakes. When you shoot scenes all out of order, it gets so messy you just can't keep track of everything.

I changed it from grid to line because it was more suitable for her reactions.

Sorry boys and girls, won't happen again.

But being serious, I don't even remember that to happen.

Yeah, I think it's safe for me to say we all knew what he was talking about, but a visual aid is always helpful.

Spike is the exception that proves the point.

Yeah I noticed that too. The first few times watching the film I can't believe I was blind enough to not see it.

This sort of thing actually happens in cartoons as well, believe it or not.

Example?
I'm guessing random incosistency.
