PostSubject: 7 Cancelled Games That Should Be Revived   Fri Mar 23, 2012 5:42 am

Hey Guys, Here are some of the cancelled games that was supposed to be released but they're not 'cause of different reasons:

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

1. Metal Gear Rising:
Revengeance almost didn’t
make it. After first being
announced in 2009, Kojima
Productions weren’t happy
with progress and essentially cancelled it in late 2010, before
it moved to Platinum Games. Rising was lucky to get an
immediate revival. Too many
games are scrapped when one
developer has trouble, never
to see the light of day again. However, for many of them,
there’s good reason for that,
but it doesn’t mean we don’t
want to play them. The
following six cancelled (or
indefinitely postponed) games shouldn’t be revived so we
can play them beginning to
end, but so we can experience
them.
Star Fox 2

2. Star Fox 2 is the most
disappointing cancelled game
of all time because it was
actually finished, but left
unreleased. It could
conceivably be released as a download on WiiWare, or
even for free, at any point in
the future. It was co-developed by
Nintendo and Argonaut
Games, who finished the
Japanese version. It
introduced two new
characters to the series, as well as new ships, and
featured improved 3D visuals
from an enhanced version of
the revolutionary Super FX
chip.
Resident Evil 1.5

3. Resident Evil 1.5 is the missing
link in the series and believed
to be between 60-80%
complete before it was
dismissed in favour of what
became Resident Evil 2. Taking control of female protagonist
Elza Walker, the game was
supposed to be released in
May 1997, but was ultimately
cancelled when Capcom
wasn’t happy. Likewise a missing early
version of Resident Evil 4
would be amazing to
experience. Four versions of
the game were proposed in
1999, some totally different to the end result, but one made it
to 40% completion that played
more like a traditional
Resident Evil game before it
was dumped in favour of the
popular over-the-shoulder camera.
Sadness

4. Sadness was a survival horror
game exclusive to the Wii
until it was cancelled in 2010.
Featuring unique black and
white visuals, Sadness was
one of the earliest third party games revealed for Wii.
Unfortunately internal
disagreements and missed
deadlines eventually led to the
game’s demise.

The Legend of Zelda: Mystical Seed of Courage

5. The Legend of Zelda:
Mystical Seed of Courage The Legend of Zelda: Mystical
Seed of Courage makes the list
strictly based on its name. It
was envisioned to be the third
game in the Oracle series, but
was cancelled in the early stages when developer
Capcom had difficulty getting
it to work well in conjunction
with Oracle of Ages and Oracle
of Seasons. As interaction
between the two games was a key selling point, Nintendo
decided not to continue with
the third game. Unlike the other games,
hardly anything was
developed, so there isn’t much
to survive. Nevertheless, we
hate to see a Zelda game go
unfinished.

Mega Man Universe

6. Mega Man Universe was in
development for PSN & XBLA
until earlier this year, making
it the most recent
disappointing cancellation. It
was a 2.5D action-platformer, inspired by Mega Man 2, that
was to follow the resurgence
of the series on download
platforms. Development began in March,
2010, with the first gameplay
trailer released in September
before the announcement of
character and level
customisation options. However, it then fell into
silence before officially being
cancelled in March, 2011.
EarthBound 64

7. EarthBound 64 Also known as Mother 3,
EarthBound 64 was originally
in development for the SNES
before being moved to the ill-
fated N64DD and shifted again
to the standard N64 when that failed, and then cancelled
altogether. Inexperience in developing
games in 3D while trying to
convert a 2D series ultimately
led to the game’s demise.
Nintendo stated that they
wanted to revive Earthbound 64, but by 2002 their focus had
shifted to the GameCube.
Mother 3 was eventually
released for the GBA in the
original style envisioned for
the SNES, but the Nintendo 64 version remains in limbo.

There's seven games here. Somewhere in the middle of the Megaman Universe text it changes to Earthbound 64. Just thought I'd point that out.

While RE1.5 would be cool to see released in some way or the other, I'd much prefer having a character like Elza incorporated in later sequels. Oh, and about that RE3.5, there was actually only two versions of it before the final release version. The first one got made into Devil May Cry and the second one actually consists of what many people believe to be three different versions: "Fog", "Hooked Man" and "Zombie" versions were all parts of the same game. Some of that stuff actually got carried to Haunting Ground.

I actually didn't know of that Sadness game. The idea seems pretty interesting.

Btw. Isn't Metal Gear Rising still coming?

Actually they we're 7 games who got cancelled. It must have been typographical error. Well I fixed it. Sorry for the wrong grammars too. Well anyway, Metal Gear Rising is still not going to released. I don't know either the RE1.5 still got no news about that. Im not familliar too, on the Sadness Game, but I think it would be great if they're going to released it.

Technically it is, just with a different name. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is going to be released later this year.

Btw. Nice find that Mother 3 logo for the last game. Oh, and there was nothing wrong with the grammar, it's all cool Smile

I heard Capcom doesn't satisfied on the results. Thats why they get rid of RE 1.5 and also they want to connect the storyline on RE1, thats why Elza has been replaced by Claire. I wonder if they didn't cancelled it, what would gonna happened on the RE History.

Wouldnt mind RE 1.5 and 3.5 on the PSN. No point in having a physical release.

My options aren't on the list...

StarCraft: Ghost
Command & Conquer: Renegade 2
Multiplayer BattleTech 3025

Yes I do realize that StarCraft: Ghost technically wasn't cancelled, but I don't think we'll be seeing it anytime soon.

Winter, A Survival horror game that was being developed for the Wii in like 2009. That's why I hated the Wii, publishers would release 6000 versions of like Nintendogs but refused to push anything a little different.

That's by the same developer that made Geist, right?

Seriously? The first game felt like a cheap clone of Half Life. That game was bad even by my standards but to each their own, I guess.

@ChickenHeart: That game looks sick! It's like a mix between Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Penumbra.

Btw. To anyone who wants to play the RE3.5 go and get Haunting Ground. They put a lot of stuff from 3.5 to that game so it's a worthy experience. It's also the spiritual successor to the Clock Tower series so that makes it all the more awesome.

QQ I loved Renegade, it was everything I could have hoped for if Command & Conquer was turned into a FPS game. The multiplayer was amazing, especially with mods.

QQ as in... what? I'm confused what that means nowadays.

Anyway, I still prefer the strategy game aspect of the series myself.

I chose RE 1.5 because I loved the different envirmoments and enemies in that version, it would be cool to acually play it.
